Will This Be Counted?

Women murder their children much more than men.

This is a known FACT. Now, some around here make light of their facts that say men are violent. I contend that female on male violence is not documented correctly and have shown many instances of where this has happened. Now, Lynn. You have brought up the topic of murder from that bandwagon you are on.

First of all, are you aware of this? Will today's instance be reported? Will women (or men) care? Is this woman hate after all that men have had to listen to?

Mother Indicted In Va. Killing
Body of Girl, 13, Found in Creek
By Jonathan Mummolo
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, March 4, 2009; B01

A Prince William County woman whose 13-year-old adopted daughter was found dead in a shallow creek has been indicted on charges of murder, lying to police and abusing the child, authorities announced yesterday.

Police said Alfreedia Gregg-Glover, 44, of the Manassas area, lied when she told them that her daughter, Alexis "Lexie" Agyepong-Glover, had run away Jan. 7, prompting a massive search. Two days later, Lexie's body was found in a Woodbridge area creek, and an autopsy determined that she died of drowning and exposure to the cold. Her death was ruled a homicide, and police say Gregg-Glover placed her in the creek.

Commonwealth's Attorney Paul B. Ebert said the medical examiner believes Lexie was alive when she was placed in the frigid creek, but he would not comment further on the case. He said the abuse charge stems from Gregg-Glover's conduct on the date of Lexie's death.

A Prince William grand jury has returned indictments against Gregg-Glover, charging her with first-degree murder, felony murder, felony child abuse and filing a false police report, authorities said. The two murder counts will give the jury the option of finding that Gregg-Glover acted with or without premeditation, they said.

At a news conference to announce the indictments, Ebert said the tragedy of Lexie's death was compounded by the fact that Gregg-Glover lied to police, wasting the time and resources of those charged with protecting the larger community.

"A lot of expense, time and trouble went to trying to locate this child, believing it was an abduction, when all along the indications are, of course, that the mother was responsible for the disappearance and the death," Ebert said. "The crime itself is bad enough."

After Lexie was found in the creek, Gregg-Glover was charged with felony neglect and lying to police, but those charges were dropped by the prosecution last week. She remains free on bond and is due in court Friday, when a trial date will be set and prosecutors will move to have her held without bond, Ebert said.

A phone call to Barry A. Zweig, a court-appointed attorney who represented Gregg-Glover in court last week, was not returned yesterday.

Authorities said that Lexie had run away several times before her disappearance and that sheriff's deputies had fitted her with a locator bracelet used to track endangered people. The bracelet was found near a Manassas library shortly after Gregg-Glover reported Lexie missing, and authorities said Gregg-Glover placed it there. She then appealed through the media for the safe return of her daughter, who she said had autism and other ailments.

Hundreds of police officers, deputies and volunteers combed the area, using search dogs and helicopters to look for Lexie as darkness descended and temperatures dropped below freezing. On Jan. 9, a man out for a walk found Lexie's body in a creek eight miles from the library. Gregg-Glover was charged days later.

Allegations that Lexie had been previously abused by Gregg-Glover have surfaced since Lexie's death. Ebert said yesterday that investigators had been in contact with social services officials.

Former caretakers and counselors who knew Lexie have disputed that she was "disabled," saying she was an intelligent, affectionate girl. Last week, about 35 people signed letters to county and state officials calling for an investigation into whether Prince William County's Department of Social Services mishandled Lexie's case while she was alive and whether procedural changes are necessary to prevent adopted children from landing in the wrong homes.

I used to investigate sexual

I used to investigate sexual abuse of male children and the facts were incalculable regarding women abusers due to the dearth of male victims' reports. The same biases could be found in any study of female-caused violence because of the social stereotypes surrounding women and their roles and their capacities for certain behaviors. I have been in a relationship with a physically violent woman who could justify any behavior by displacing responsibility for her actions. I didn't report her, because I weighed the impact it would have on our daughter at the time and MF probably knows better the result that I might have experienced in Washington State.
The important truth about violence is that the Truth will never be known and that is a fact of life. Violence is intimate and our knee-jerk behavior is to keep private that which is intimate. Outcomes of violence against men seem to only be investigated when a body shows up and even then, the bias is in favor of the survivor. It's sad to think that silent victims exist at all, but it's more sad to speculate our way into a huge falsehood about it and then legislate a lie.

I hear you, Fremen. While

I hear you, Fremen. While this may appear to be funny and retaliatory on the surface, there is much truth to it. I lived with 18 1/2 years of this kind of truth. Simple realistic assertions can be made without statistics. In this day and age of cameras, I often wonder why nobody actually bothers to capture this behavior on film, then equally breathe a sigh of relief when I also realize this would be used to trump up the cause.

Morbidly speaking, it is possible for people to get over these actions and positively move on with their lives. Too many have made this movement vindictive in nature seeking punishment for all, when only a few are actually involved. This is sad because there is help out there that does work. But those who run these movements are not interested in help.

Its a sad commentary on today's society when they can take ugliness such as this and actually make it worse.

Perpetuation of a cause means more egos boosted, more people with jobs, more money, blah,blah,blah... I'm all for the secrets to come out and transparency in justice, but that would challenge the status-quo.

Me too. After all, there

Me too. After all, there were assault laws on the books to begin with. All they did was make a system out of nothing, that requires no proof whatsoever, and circumvents the constitution as we used to know it. Why else would that be? To hear the "experts" speak about it, they will quote what you did above, yet exclude others, making this a "females only" club in the process. In my eyes, this is nothing more than women behaving badly and using their female "priviledge" inapproporiately.

Again, I say it's the flip-side of a patriarchal social system and illustrates how men are also victimised by the mindset of "everyone in their place".

So much injustice in a world

So much injustice in a world of implied justice!
I don't hate women, its that I have decided I don't need to live with one. My female friends often call me for a buttie call - I have no problem with that. My rule is I don't wake up with them - they either leave or I leave after we share a mutually satisfactory exchange of body fluids!
They don't spend my money and I don't buy them dinner and an evening out - for that price I can get a professional if I felt the need.
Once I realized women need what is between my legs more than I needed what is between theirs life became far more real! I have more money, enjoy good conversations, decorate and cook what I want and life is by far much less complicated.
I never hit women, well okay an ocassional spanking when they insist during intimate exchanges.

Men have become increasingly

Men have become increasingly aware of the actual dangers that relationships have posed to them. Sadly, the tables have been turned and they are not helping out either gender.

I think that when we talk about the cases when parents murder their children we must consider such cases as the cases of the insanity. I'm sure that there are no parents who are  been in the common sense should kill their children. And I can't see the difference between the man's and woman's insanity.

Men are woefully left out in the cold with today's "justice" system that has displayed a totally disproportionate level of gender bias when these cases are viewed, heard or reviewed. In fact, they aren't even added to the gender biased "statistics" that drive these "laws".

Re: Will This Be Counted?

It's going to get to the point where we have to use proxies to represent us in court, and the gender of all those involved are not disclosed. As impractical as that is, that's going to be the only way a man can report being a victim of domestic violence and actually get his abusive wife locked up. Even though we have a mentality of "A girl hitting a guy is comedy, a guy hitting a girl is not", that doesn't extend outside comedy itself.

Re: Will This Be Counted?

I had a girl friend once who demanded she be allowed to perform fellatio on me daily. Although at one point I considered that abuse - I just smiled and went with the program!
This is no joke either and I suspect it may even be considered absolutist in nature!

Double standard indeed, there was a knife, there was probably his skin on it, her fingerprints on the knife, and the testimony of her own children. And they don't arrest her? I would've published that story on Digg with the title "Female DV perp gets tazed and thrown into the back of a police car, and gets a displaced shoulder. Serves her right!" if the police grew a pair and laid down the law.
