I think that it's the problem of today that people lose the interest to the reading of the books. I think that we spend too much time near the computers. I think that reading the books is much more healthy and pleasant pastime. But how to restore to life the old and good love to the reading of books?
I keep my kid a steady supply of books. Luckily she's into books as much as I am and I'd like to think it's because I led by example.
I've seen the Kindle that Amazon sells, I'm not impressed. Some people like them, one of my cohorts at work has one and enjoys it. There are limitations with it that I do not like, like it being tied to Amazon and them going into the system without notice nor your permission. But one of the over whelming things of why I don't like that media is when I read a book/novel I enjoy the smell, the touch of a good book while I'm reading it.
Currently I'm reading Simon R. Green's "Nightside" series, it's pretty damn good. Once I've finished with #4 "Hex and the City" I'm going to read again "Pillars of the Earth", just picked up the hard cover of it. It's an excellent novel I read back in '91.

Family legend has it that I learned to read before I was two; I don't know if it's true or not because I can't remember that far back. I do remember that my mom and grandparents all had libraries and everyone in the family read, so I know that if parents read for pleasure, kids will too.
Re Kindles. I gave one to my mom because her eyes are not able to focus on the print of most books, and the regular Kindle 2 can store up to 3000 books. I haven't used it but Mom loves hers.

I've been curious as to how the Kindle works and have thought about trying one out, but I am the same way when it comes to reading. Nothing beats the smell and touch of a new book. I'm also one of those weird ones that like the smell of an old book from a library, and still go to the library just to find a classic that has a lot of history in it.
Computers and TVs are babysitters for many children and teenagers. That said, I'm a proud member of the TV generation. I'm not a reader and never have been. It puts me to sleep.
Reading is like living your own life. Leaving aside everything, everything else out of your mind and making yourself free of all the daily hassles and sitting at your own lovely place to enjoy the reading moment is nothing relaxing. It gives you so much energy that even today people like you and me and many are enjoying reading books. One good example about this is nothing to look beyond then the sale of Horry potter series.
I don't think that and i am not agree with you.
As because of the science has developed a lot,no one is showing interest in spending on books.
They can easily get it from the internet, and can study from the e-books.

Actually not quite true. I am sure millions have switched to e-books yes, but Barnes and Noble still sell millions upon millions of books each year as well.
I agree with leighdu. Though as I said I'm not a reader, when I do read,I don't want to do it on a reader. I'll buy the hard copy.

I do strongly believe in this words. Parents has to lead from the front in any spheres. And book reading is today totally gone out of habit. My son is very much fond of any books and of course he used to pluck newspapers while reading. I never scolded him for doing this.
I agree with you vlada, we spend a lot of time before our PC's. I was a bibliophile, but when i started spending time with PC, i dont find time for books.
But i have a hobby of traveling, when ever i am in a journey, i take books with me and read them during the journey.
