Halloween

There is a lot of parents in my area that are protesting kids going trick or treating because it promotes tooth decay. Is it just me or is this going on everwhere ? I understand the whole thing about not wanting your kids to take candy from strangers, but at the same, it seems like everything fun is being taken away from the kids. They can't say "Merry Christmas" in a local school here, they can't bring candy in even on holidays, etc. I think the "protect our kids" thing is just getting a bit out of control. I have every intention of letting my kid trick or treat, in OUR neighborhood amongst people that we know well.

We don't take our daughter trick or treating. Mostly because we live in the country. We would have to take her to a neighborhood where we do not know the residents. We take her to the church's "Fall Festival" where they have a costume contest and games for the kids to play. No only does she have a great time but the proceeds of the festival go to support the poor. It has nothing to do with tooth decay, she get plenty of candy other places to claim that.

Might want to tell your kids to hand out Christmas Cards to kids that are indeed Christian, and start up a huge shitstorm when one gets detention because the school is denying them freedom of religion.

Let them trick or treat, kids can worry about politics when they get older.

PS: I'm living proof that Halloween is not a leading cause of tooth decay.

As it is celebrated as a festival then why they should keep those childs away from the chocolates, thats not good and you can tell them to wash their mouthh after eating chocolates,it will not harm their teeths.

The country is out of control, in my opinion. It saddens me to see how much kids are deprived. I feel sorry for this generation and the ones that follow. We should be allowed to pray, to celebrate birthdays and holidays, and to just do whatever we want as long as we aren't hurting others. A child giving someone a Valentine or piece of Christmas candy is not hurting anyone else. It's ridiculous. I hope this country flipflops one of these days because we've gotten worse, not better.

That's an excellent idea, but how would you feel if the schools and your community told you that your church was not allowed to have a Fall Festival anymore? I just think there are just too many silly protests and rules going on and its affecting our kids.

I agree with you; there are definitely too many rules. It's gone way overboard. I'm against all the restrictions. It's taking the fun out of everything and really hurting kids. No wonder our country is a mess.

Re: Halloween

On one day if you are giving your kids the permission to spoil through candy's will not ruin anything. I allow my kid to do that but clearly informed about the ill-effect of it. He is in the second grade. I  think PG is something needed here.
