Just yet another reason to avoid Microsoft, get a phone with Windows Mobile and get spammed 24x7
I do know people have to make money but advertising got way out of hand a long time ago. Today you go to see a Movie at any Regal Cinema, pay a fortune for the ticket and the obscenely over priced Popcorn. Now if that's not enough but to add insult to injury you have to sit through fucking commercials for TV, Cars, etc. This is why I avoid Regal and don't go out to movies much any longer. Hell commercials are now starting to infect the DVD's that you buy, but at least with those you can start the DVD, mute and go off and fix your snacks or what not.
Also the obscene amount of commercials on broadcast TV is why I do not subscribe to cable nor Satilite either. Hell I don't even listen to broadcast radio any longer due to the pollution of ads and commercials
Now in corporate wisdom which infects big corporate Microsoft is going to be spamming those who buy phones with Windows Mobile with ads. Oh well since I won't own a phone with that piece of shit OS, this only confirms I've made the right decision.

Windows Phone 7 will be an 'ad-serving machine'
By Nick Eaton -Seattle PI Blogs | Jun 24, 10
Windows Phone 7 apps will be able to send users information, news and offers from their favorite brands, effectively turning Microsoft's next mobile operating system into an "ad-serving machine," a representative said.
Windows Phone 7, due out for the holidays, will allow advertisers to push notifications about their products to people's phones through a platform called "Toast." Even when a company's app is not active, a small ad box can slide down from the top of the phone's screen to alert the user there's an update or new offer from that brand.
"(WP7 is) an extra move on our NUI (natural user interface). We're trying to get technology out of the way of people," Kostas Mallios, Microsoft's general manager for Strategy and Business Development, told marketers and advertising professionals at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival in France. "For consumers, what this means is basically seamless experiences, seamless social connectivity – not just about applications, obviously about the phone, obviously about media.
"For marketers ... this is actually turning out, in my view, to be an ad-serving machine," he continued. "It basically enables advertisers to connect with consumers over time."
Customers can opt in or opt out of these Toast push-notifications, Mallios said. But the idea is that advertisers on Microsoft's mobile advertising platform will be able to ping their audiences whenever they want.
The Windows Phone advertising platform will be different from Apple's new iAd network. iAd lets advertisers create interactive ads that Apple envisions would be enjoyable for consumers. The platform aims to "entertain and inform with full-screen in-line video, wallpapers, games, interactive maps, in-ad app or iTunes content downloads, social networking tools, and more," according to the company's website.
In WP7, Microsoft is helping companies bring ads directly to a device's home screen, which is populated by icon-like "tiles."
"What you'll see is that there's actually a message on that tile," Mallios said during a demonstration. "So that title is actually a dynamic tile that you're now able to push information to as an advertiser, and stay in touch with your customer. It's a dynamic relationship that is created and provides for an ongoing dialog with the consumer."
Toast takes that a step further. When an advertiser's app isn't even active, Toast "enables the advertiser to push the content down to the device," Mallios said.
