Blogging Tips

For those of you who have Blogging rights here's a couple of tips.

  1. Check out the "News Feeds":
I have a module that aggregates news from a number of sources. If you notice in the side bar there will be a story and a little blue box with a tiny "b" in it. If you click on it that will open a blog entry with a teaser to the story and a link. There you can make your commentary and what not for your Blog
  2. Use desktop blogging tools:
This will give you the ability to run the desktop application, format your Blog entry easily. The major ones off the top of my head are Scribefire (FF plugin) and Windows Live Writer
  3. Blogs are totally yours:
Take advantage of your corner of the Internet, use it to advocate your passions, belief's and what not. Forums are excellent but they are structured, your Blog's only limitation is what you put on it. If it's hobbies, politics, entertainment what ever you choose let your imagination loose.
  4. Generate traffic to your Blog:
In your personal emails and signature on other forums, blogs etc proudly display your personal blog, the link would be
    http://www.rejecttheherd.net/blog/yourusername
  5. Blog Entries are Featured on the Front Page:
All Blog entries are featured on the front page and are the first to be "crawled" by the search bots. This gives exposure to your Blog to the outside world therefore will attract "hits" when someone does a Google, Live search, Yahoo search, etc. This will in turn attract others to comment and contribute to your thoughts.

I chose to go with Drupal due to it's power and flexibility, I like forums but in order to promote "Free and Independent Thought" I thought it was important to have member blogs also. I've got my own "two bits" to contribute but I'm seriously wanting a place for all to display their thoughts. This IMO is the only way true progress and knowledge can be obtained, free will and free thought. So take advantage of it and enjoy yourself, I've created this site for who choose not to just follow the "Herd", but to think independently.

Cheers Mate!

Re: Blogging Tips

It would help  if your niche is about your likings.  You couldn't keep up with your blog if you are just in it so that you could make money.  Everyday there are thousand of bloggers whoa re deserting their blog because of this.
