The so-called "drug war" being waged by the American government has to be the most ridiculous thing ever. Smoke and mirrors does not being to descibe it. Think about how much money is made by jailing inmates, especially on the federal level. Something must be done and I suggest they look into decriminalization (not legalization). Any thoughts on the subject? I would like to hear all points of view and I definitely have no problem with someone respectfully disagreeing with me.
OOOOOOOHHHH don't get me started on this crap. Personally IMO the "Drug War" is nothing other than another tool used by Government to enslave the "Plebs". A way to go in seize property, assets and turn law abiding citizens into criminals that they can use as slaves.
Well said! The seizure of property and assets, in my opinion, is at the root of many of their so-called investigations. I will have to find the link to the San Jose Mercury News article that broke the story about the CIA flooding the Bay Area with crack to finance the Iran-Contra affair. What seemed so far fetched turned out to be more real than most folks want to believe. Are you familiar with that? I've been following this since I was about 13. I'm now 38. Hard to believe that I am still in the minority as far as my beliefs go I see you are as well.
The asset seizure laws have done nothing but turned the once "peace keepers" into being very predatory. Then there is also shit like these operations like so called "Law Enforcement" posing to catch anything from so called "Child Predators" to "Downloading" music/video's. Question I have is what happened to laws against "Entrapment"? Government has become Predatory and is out to turn everyone into criminals so they can have their "slaves".
I am always saying that the government has gotten too powerful. I watched a movie again last night where a guy says it best when he states "people shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of its people" (V for Vendetta). As far as drugs, I am starting to jump on the boat that states that the situation would be better if all the stuff was legal and the government wasn't spending so much time and money to fight a lost battle.
I am Dutch so I am actually pretty liberal on many things. I can not understand the US government obsession with drugs. If I want to put a gram of coke up my nose or swallow a few pills so that I can dance the night away then that should be my choise as it is my body.

I've been around a few Dutch in my life and from what I understand that the problems you have in Amsterdam with Drugs and Prostitution aren't from the Dutch but from from the tourists that come from countries where it's ilegal.
I'm a huge supporter of legalizing it here, myself I gave up drugs a long time ago, I out grew it you know. But the obsession with nudity, prostitution, drugs, alcohol here is stupid. IMO it's nothing more than just a way for the government to control the "Herd", how else could they keep the prisons full and the court system making money if they didn't outlaw everything?
We Americans use the power of the law to empower certain groups with special interests. For that reason and no other we have continued the ridiculous polices of the war on drugs!
What I find laughable is that most all common substances currently illegal were once totally legal. But then came the special interest groups wanting to control the laws for financial gain. Hurst is one of the most notable of these pricks - just to increase demand for his paper made from trees he lobbied and spent millions vilifying marijuana as it was a competing fiber in the paper industry (and better). Yes even our Constitution is written on hemp paper!
But by making things illegal that people naturally desire we fuel the legal system, the prisons etc. Why the hell anybody would want to immigrate here is crazy, especially when so many of us are trying to get the fuck out!

I would not even go that far as saying that we have problems with drugs or prostitution in Amsterdam. It is true that most of the people that purchase weed in the coffee shops are tourists and not locals. Prostitution should also be legal in my opinion as long as it is between two willing adults.
We could certainly learn much from other nations that have legalized drugs, prostitution and other social vices.
Alas I doubt we will change much anytime soon - there is too much money in pretending to fight the war on drugs. It also keeps a lot of money circulating in the non-taxable arena and that is good for funding all sorts of other special interest programs - like payoffs!
I'm late as Hell on this, but Pagan, it's only entrapment if you give someone an opportunity to commit a crime, if they were unlikely to, or had no intention of committing.
Like, a cop hooker arresting you at wal-mart, that would be entrapment, cause who looks for hookers at wal-mart?
A cop hooker at the red light district however, that wouldn't, cause who shops at the red light district?
