I prefer to listen to some hard rock,or even some country. What a combo I know. But it all depends on what mood I am in when I feel the need to relax and get away. So do you prefer?
Depends on the mood and my taste ranges from Punk to Classical. I also reject commercial broadcast garbage, 99.99% of everything I listen too is streamed off the internet. Currently I'm listening to some Punk from Killed by Death , good stuff. Then I'll move on over to Magnatune which has an excellent selection, I especially like Beth Quist, her stuff is excellent. Yesterday I was in the mood for some Elvis, especially his Rockabilly and Gospel. Elvis's Amazing Grace just reaches down and grabs you by your soul!
Pagan,
Have you ever heard of a magazine called AdBusters? It's world-wide but printed here in BC. Based on what you have written re: music, I think you would totally enjoy the magazine (which comes with this serious CD of music that's right up your alley!)
Anyway, I have been getting it since 2000 myself...and there's not one copy that has dissapointed me. Here's a couple links. Seriously, check em out I think you will enjoy...

Hey, I did a search and was unable to get a link to the music... Is there any way I can just use the CD on my end here and post it to your site?
Cool, thanks Lynn

Not your average joe type stuff... But worth listening to. I think there are a total of 31 songs on this cd. I have only uploaded a few...
I wake up to rock. I don't exactly relax to it. I range all over the place, also depending upon my mood. Right now, I'm listening to the Bodeans. I love cooking to classical, love to rock in the car, and love some real good new age stuff. Anyone remember Kitaro when he first came out? I saw him live in Tiburon back in the eighties.
I enjoy many different types of music for different tasks or moods:
For relaxing I prefer Techno, usually Trance or House, although some local alternative finds its way into my listening in the form of Deathcab for Cutie or Modest Mouse (older Modest Mouse). If I'm driving, usually I prefer something with a good beat that is fast, like Rage Against the Machine or old NOFX or Butt Trumpet. I like listening to Punk and Rock when I'm working out/ jogging. My MP3 player will spurt a mix of Brand New, Operation Ivy, the Killers, and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.
Of course, sometimes I get that weird feeling for Prokofiev or Frank Sinatra. Usually Frank goes down smooth when I'm relaxing with a glass of Scotch (as opposed to just regular relaxing).
I also like listening to a range of classic rock and jazz, but for relaxation I go for classical music.
I prefer pieces from the Baroque era I guess, and chamber music in general. I find I like this when I'm driving in rush hour traffic or working at the computer.
Butt Trumpet!!!
That brings back the days of the Mentors - My Girl From Sodom!
Teenaged Enema Nurses in Bondage - Killer Kussy!
We used to request these songs at work from the local college station, then turn up the radio and leave for breakfast. Good times!
If I want to relax, then I need something like The Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, or even Pink Floyd.
I love smooth jazz. A little Peter White, Gerald Albright, or Anita Baker relaxes me like nothing else can.
When I was to relax then I often listen to some Cafe del Mar or some other chill out lounge music. I also enjoy listening to Dido as its also really great chill out music.
I fully support the independent Texas music scene. It is mostly country but you wouldn't recognize it if you listen to the crap they play on the radio most of time. Also introduced me to some great bands in other genres, Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers (formerly the Refreshments) being one of them. Everybody should give them a listen.
You in Austin? That's a great city for music!
when I need to relax I usually listen to something classical. I also have a CD that is just rain and thunder...not music, but VERY good for relaxing to.
Chinese cultural and Tai Chi music does wonders for helping me to relax. It comes with the highest recommendation.
I LOVE that type of music. I own the soundtrack to David Carradine's Kung Fu: The Legend Continues. Love every bit of it and others.
Certain movie soundtracks can help me relax. I think the soundtrack to A Beautiful Mind helps me relax the most.
'Victorialand' by Cocteau Twins is an oldie but goodie. I can still max out with that old 4AD sound, never tire of it.
Nothing will relax you more than a damn good dose of Chopin
soft music perhaps, its relaxes me or instrumentals-kenny G plays the saxophone.
It depends on my mood and what I feel like listening too. However, I've often found that the best music for relaxation is classical or jazz. Most of the time though, I listen to some variety of rock.
I love to listen to old hindi music songs. It makes me happy and help me in getting relieve from stress.
I find classical music to be relaxing, in particular piano and/or string oriented concertos.

I find classical music to be relaxing, in particular piano and/or string oriented concertos.
Chopin is the "Bomb"!, I'll listen to Chopin, Motzart and Rockmoninoff when I'm chilling
It all depends on my mood. When I am trying to sleep, I listen to instrumental piano music. If I want to calm down after being mad, I listen to rock, alternative and R & B.
I love listening to classical music when I am trying to relax. The music of Mozart and Bach are timeless.
I have to agree -- it depends on my mood. I like most types of music, so I may listen to heavy metal one day and classical or blues or rap on another day.
I love to hear melody songs. When i was tired i prefer to hear melody songs. In happy mood i prefer rocking and heavy beat songs.
I listen to this track right here, a remix of the Touhou track Beloved Tomboyish Girl, remixed by the group Liverne. I think this one is a lot better than the original.

Wish I knew how to rearrange the music in Touhou, I'd replace all the music with the more awesome remixes. Not saying ZUN isn't a good composer (He's quite excellent), but you tend to get tired of UN Owen Was Her? the 20th time you try to beat Flandre. XD
If I just want to go to sleep Pink Floyd works fine. Mostly these days I find myself listening to Dark Ambient or Industrial Music, I still love metal but have to say I am very sick of anything mainstream. Just don't feel like there is alot happening in music these days. Even the alternative stations are playing music thats over 10 years old. EMO and Screamo stuff dominate this areas rock stations. :frustrated: Well I don't skate and I have no desire to die so I guess internet radio is the choice for me. I click around alot.
Sometimes it's classical, sometimes it's pop, and sometimes it's country. I like a variety of music, and as others have said, it so often just depends on my mood at the time.
If I am in the mood Bizet´s "Carmen" especally the "habanera" is my first choice.

But I listen to all kinds of music. so it depends on the way I feel at that special moment.
Good alternative will do help a lot. But some prefer classical music it relieves your tension, relaxes you more when your at rest. But i prefer alternative rocks makes your funny bone giggle helping you to much some parts of your body
. Well it depends on what you prefer to and yeah i agree it depends in your mood.
Vivaldi!!!!!
MMMM listening to "Ministry" Stigmata right now
We'll if I'm in a mood for relaxation I just get a into my favorite chair have a cold beer and listen Bob Marley !!!!! I love this Guy !!!!
I would go with love and alternative rock songs, some balllads, but mostly love songs. This type of songs always relaxes me whenever I feel uneasy. When I go to sleep I would always listen to this music, I would always feel relaxed and It makes my sleep much better.
I use to listen some of the love songs, and few of the movies song,
It makes me feel relax and after getting relaxed,i get to my work back.
I prefer to listen some of the cool music.
I love to listen the music of the film Ghajini, its very cool and is great.
"Kaise mujhe tum milgaye"
It depends on the mood of mine. When i feel exchasted and sad , i listen to melody and classical songs.
When i want to relax for a while from my work, i go for rock and pop....
