The question about Masonry?

There are a lot information about the Freemasonry although it is the well known fact that Masonry is the secret organization.

But I had not found the answer to the question: is Masonry a religion or not?

It's also the well known fact that this organization consists of several thousands  followers.

Masonry is not a religion, before you enter FreeMasonry you must believe in a Deity, or God. You can enter if your a Muslim, Christian or Jew but if you don't believe in God you can't enter. Most presidents in the past have been in Freemasonry.

Just a good old boys club!  Nothing sinister about them - like the consoiracy nuts would like you to believe.  Yes, they do control a certain power base but then so do the gays, girl scouts, democrats, republicans etc.  Secret societies are simply part of the the human experience and an attempt to influence and promote a given groups ideals and beliefs.

BTW - for those of you foreigners this is not just an American based organization.

It is not several thousands, runs into millions around the globe. You believe in Supreme Being, you can become a member of this organization. You see it is said that without mass followers and if not constituted in a country's constitution, you cannot call any particular followers or their groups as religion (comments are welcomed to correct me in this particular front alone). It looks like Freemasonry is not a religion and its only a group of followers moving with their belief in Supreme Being.

I have to agree with this AO.  My dad was in the Masons, and when he was at the end of his life he told me about some of their activities (which are suppose to be secret... Dad didn't keep much secret in his last year) Smiling
