Philippine Folk tales

This has been one of the cultures here on my country.  Older people have the habits of telling some legends to the younger ones.  Among the favorite on folk tales is "Juan Tamad".

Juan Tamad is about a lazy boy who waits for the guava fruit to fall on his mouth instead of jsut picking it.

Well you've got my interest, don't hold back.  So how does the story go?

Re: Philippine Folk tales

Juan Tamad appears in a lot of folk tales, he's basically lazy and stupid, and a few other things.

Tracked a link for you. All I know about the Philippines is that it's not usual for a conversation to start in Tagalog and switch to English and Tagalog again throughout. That's just too awesome. XD

Re: Philippine Folk tales

We'll this tale is basically taught on schools in the Philippines to learn a good lesson about it and value hard work than waiting for something to come in front of you, though I can't say anything from our governments today, they just basically wait for the money that the people worked upon.
