Super Bowl picks

Now that the match up is set, who does everybody like in the Big Game? I think the Steelers D is just going to be too much for Arizona. On the flip side, Kurt Warner has a friend in Jesus so I guess I can't be too sure.

I'm conflicted.

I hate the Steelers, as they stole Superbowl XL. (Don't deny it, everybody knows it)

But then again, I don't want another team from our division to win. (Although it they did win, people would no longer be able to say our division is weak)

I've been watching the Steeler's Playoff games this year and they had a lot of help from the refs during this year's playoff's sans for yesterday's game, where it was not needed. I was rooting for Baltimore all the way, as i could not BELIEVE the amount of homer calls they were getting.

Despite that, you know I'm a Packers fan and of the opinion that Seattle has a bunch of whiner's over that 2006 game. But what I've seen of this year's playoff's has changed my mind completely. I hate San Diego, but think they got screwed royally last week.

Go Cardinals!

I've seen a couple of "Stealer" games this year also and no shit, the help they get from the Refs is more than obvious. The Superbowl with them and Seattle EVERYONE acknowledged the favoritism the Ref's gave the "Stealers" and seriously there needs to be someone checking into who's getting the pay offs. It's rather obvious that this is continuing, this is bullshit. Hell it's worse than Boxing you know Eye-wink

I wouldn't go that far, but

I wouldn't go that far, but there is bias in Pittsburgh. This time, they will be playing on a neutral field. And, if there's any justice, put NFC refs in the game to give it balance.

I'm for the better team to win. But to ignore penalties in a biased manned is not the way to do it.

On a side note, how bout that Steelers/ Ravens game last night?

I have never seen so many HARD hits in a game before. Esp the one in the 4th that left McGahee grounded. Brutal.

I thought McGahee was dead.

Honestly.

If you look at that replay, you saw his neck and head go backwards as his torso remained where it was. It looked lethal to me. They aren't saying much about him today, except for the movement in his extremities (Thank God!) and the pain in his neck. I'm left wondering at this point if he is walking or if he will ever play again....

I thought those movements in his arms and legs were twitches.

I could hear the guy talking about seeing him move, but all I was seeing were these tiny movements. When they put the stretcher on the little golf car I could see he actually was moving his arms, but for a long time I was really worried for him.

____________

BTW, who was the player that had the penalty called on him in the 4th during the punt return? The penalty that brought the Ravens from the 40 yard line all the way back to the 20? In my opinion, that guy cost the Ravens the game.

I was happy to see him moving, but wonder just how he is today. The media has been very quiet about him....

I didn't see the penalty as I was channel surfing when that happened...

Ravens were down by 2, 8-9

Ravens were down by 2, 8-9 minutes left on the clock. Ravens have a B-E-A-UTIFAL punt return bringing them up to the 40.

CUT to commercial

When the game returns the Ravens are back at the 20. WTF?! One of the Ravens had illegal contact or some issue where they pushed a Steeler out of bounds or did something weird that caused a penalty.

Ravens totally lose momentum after an awesome punt return. 3-5 plays later Steelers have the game winning interception (They were technically winning already, but this put the final nail in the coffin).

Yeah, that Ravens-Steelers

Yeah, that Ravens-Steelers game was downright nasty. Arizona is going to have to play a lot more physical to get the win (they like to throw it around a lot and I don't know that they'll be able to get away with that against Pitt).

I remember when the momentum swung their way, but missed that part of the game.

This is the type of officiating in Championship games that must cease. This is what I'm talking about. Was it a penalty in your opinion?

It was almost certainly a penalty. The Ravens coach and the Ravens on the sideline wer like "WTF are you doing?! You're going to screw us!"

I probably would have called it. It was a personal foul.

I'm trying to locate the name of the players involved, and the time that it occured.

Fair enough.

What I don't like is over officiating during the playoffs. However, if it was as blatant as what you said, there's no way around it.

Pagen--first and foremost I

Pagen--first and foremost I have to say I love your little guys up top with the Dallas star. That is precious...LOL

I am going for the Cardinals. It is there time. My team (Dallas) did not make it in, so I am going for the underdogs. Smiling

That hit was horrible on the Raven's guy. I have to say--after that, I was sick to my stomach. I felt so bad for him. I know it's football--but OUCH! I was POed at the Steelers---the only player on the field watching over this guy, was Big Ben. Could have been a little more support there.

Interesting fact: In 1944, during wartime--there was not enough players to go around for the football teams--the Steelers and Cardinals combined to become one team. Isn't sweet that when the Cardinals finally get in--they will be playing the Steelers. Smiling Let's hope the Cardinals do become a bit more physical. Steelers will stomp right over them, put them in coffins and dig their holes for them later...lol

The Steelers stole the game?

The Steelers stole the game? Give me a break! Paid off the refs? What the heck are you smoking Pagan? really....

The Steelers have deserved every WIN they have gotten. The calls go both ways! Get over it already! It was years ago. I can't tell you how many bad calls I've seen against my team!

I said before and I'll say again--- It's Pittsburgh baby! All the way to to the WIN!

Here we go Steelers, Here we go!

The #1 defense... they are the best.

Shame on you Sweet for bad mouthing the team... Just because Ben was the only one out there didn'tmean the other guys didn't care. They were taking the knee--- just at the sidelines. They aren't supposed to be out there. Big Ben was in that situation just a few weeks back- carried out on the stretcher. It was closer to home for him. He is a class-act.

Steelers all the way!

Pagan... I hope you get over it soon....

I agree. While I consider

I agree. While I consider many Seattle fans to be the biggest bunch of whiners on this green earth of ours, the officials should just let them play and not call penalties like this in games like that.

Pittsburgh has had homered calls throughout the playoffs, with the exception of the last game against the Ravens. That's not how I would want my team (the Packers) to win a game. I would prefer that they win the game because they were the better team.

Let me clarify something too, even though I live in Seattle I'm not a Seahawks fan. Actually I've always called them the "Seaclucks" and we all know they're the "Choke" Kings Eye-wink I'm actually a Niner's fan, been one for a long time. Yeah they've sucked for a while but they'll be back Laughing out loud

Anyway it's pretty common knowledge about the shitty calls from that Superbowl, it really diminished not only the game but forever put a cloud over the "Stealers". The calls went way beyond "just a bad call". Let's hope the Ref's actually do their job on the 1st so the game can be at least watchable ya know.

That wasn't addressed at you

That wasn't addressed at you in specific and I should've specified that. That was my bad. But the sentiment remains the same. Most good officials take the gloves off and let the players decide the outcome in a championship environment, calling only the most aggregious of penalties. In my mind, that is what SHOULD happen.

I agree with you Mysandrist. The officials should just back off in the big games unless there is a blatant foul that gives one side a clear advantage.

I'm all for that! The Steelers have a lot of calls against them as well. I am all for "smash-mouth" football. Can you guess who would come out on top?

Pittsburgh Steelers! #1 defense. Will punish anyone. Look back at the Ravens game- all the Ravens/Steelers games this season. Both great defenses, both punishing defenses--- and we came out on top each time.

There was no paying off in the Superbowl- refs will call what they see. It goes both ways.

It's Steelers.... not Stealers!

Let's go for 6--- 1st team in history, Can they do it?

Of course Pittsburgh is going to be the "bad boy team" they are playing Cinderella... a team that hasn't been to the Superbowl (since it's been called that. It's been 61 years for the Cards. Sure Warner has magic. I can't wait to see our boys take it away. Troy, Casey, Clark- Here we go!!

Homered calls = Stealers.

Sorry, Kris. I call 'em as I see 'em. And I saw a lot of Stealers homered calls this year from here in WI. I wasn't even looking for it.

We'll see what the officials do. I might actually go in AZ's favor! Would that be calling 'em as they see 'em in your book then?

Sure it would be. We have

Sure it would be. We have won more games with bad calls in the past. They should call the game fair, but if they so choose to call more against the Steelers-- I bet we still end up on top.

I still say I watch every game that I can on TV- I don't see many bad calls for the Steelers! Usually when the refs mess up- they make up for it later in the game.

Go Steelers! Smiling
