United 93...Anyone see it? Anyone opposed to it having been made? Is it worth watching?

As you may probably know, there have been only a handful of movies made about Sept. 11, 2001, including a made-for-cable TV movie about United Flight 93 (the one that crashed in Pennsylvania) and two theatrical releases, Oliver Stone's World Trade Center and Paul Greengrass' United 93.

I did not go see United 93 when it came out in theaters, but I recently ordered the DVD from eBay.  I don't have it yet but I should get it by Thursday, maybe Friday of this week.

Did anyone here see it?  What opinions do you have about it?

Great acting and great directing, but of course it's a touchy subject. It was a bit tough for me to watch at times, so I could only imagine how those who lost loved ones feel and can understand why people thought it was too soon. However, it's a good movie that places you there as it happens, not looking back. I also like how there weren't really any famous actors in it...made it seem more touching and real that way....but it's definitely a tear jerker.

Thank you, Leighdu, for replying.

I remember that when this movie was released in 2006, there were those who said that five years was much too soon for a "9/11" movie and that any such film would trivialize or glorify (depending on which side of the fence one sits) the horrible events of that awful day.  Some people - myself included, were not emotionally ready to see United 93.

I think that the decision to not cast well-known actors was a wise one. I'm not knocking any of Hollywood's A-list actors, but I don't want to be pulled out of the story when I get the involuntary and inevitable Celebrity in the Scene reaction that mars so many historical movies.

I still haven't received my DVD; I bought it on eBay and the seller is in Canada.  Maybe it will be here tomorrow.

I watched it with painful heart. I can only say apart watching this movie one should think of the kind of politicians we are electing and how easily they are ruining our life and they leading a extra ordinary life. Shame on us. Shocked Shocked
