I recall watching the film based on Kurt Vonnegut's book in the early 70s. It was aired on PBS and I think it was a NET Playhouse production. Now if memory serves me (wish I could remember if it does) Vonnegut was not happy about this film and either sued or bought the rights entirely. I would love to see it again or buy a copy if it is available. Does anybody know anything about this film?
It aired in 1972 but it doesn't look like it's available anywhere.
If you just want to see it, there is a guy on youtube who has the whole movie up in eight 10 minute parts. Here is part 1:
Between Time & Timbuktu: Part One
If you go to his channel, you can get all the rest of the videos.
Many thanks. I have been looking for a copy of this for a very long time. Although I understand Vonnegut himself didn't like it (I've been a fan of his writing for years) I recall seeing this and thinking "WOW that was great"! But then I was younger and just back from a tour in Viet Nam - my head was pretty screwed up. It will be interesting to watch it now and see if my reaction is even close now.
Again, many thanks for pointing me to this.
You're very welcome! I'm sure it's going to be a trip to see it again after all this time.
Now that was a trip into the past! Thanks Citizen Irene you hooked me up to one of my favorites. Great cast too! Pretty amazing to watch this film after so many years. Now I need to see where I can get my hands on it for my library! This certainly is one worth a remake IMO.
You are a video Goddess! I would recommend this to all on RtH for viewing pleasure if you like thought provoking films.
