I hate the Olympics now - I used to love watching them, but now I am insulted by the whole affair.
After that fiasco in China, I'm not surprised. Not only were some of those people not allowed to compete, they tried to cover it up and thought nobody would notice.
It's supposed to be a competition of the world's greatest athletes, and now it has spiraled down into a massive drama-fest.
I was thinking, is it any wonder they didn't want the O here? I mean according to the majoirty of our media we are a bunch of backwards ass people that don't want our citizens to have health care and we are racist to boot.

The grass is always greener - that's the catch-22 of American consumerism. What happens when the grass looks greener in places that aren't so consumer-driven? Yikes, that's what. "We need to be more like this country or that country." Our nation has the biggest identity crisis in the history of the world and it's because all we've managed to produce is a continent-full of consumers - no sense of ourselves whatsoever.
It is sad thing and totally odd that Chicago was eliminated in a pathetic way out of the Olympic votes. However I still don't mind Olympics being held at Brazil as they also need their chance to host this world famous event never mind of what hardliners have to say. 
One contributing factor was probably the recent violence (and history of) in Chicago. Who wants to deal with that? New olympic event............drive by shooting?

Isn't drive by shooting an Olympic sport yet? I'll be hog tied and corn holed! 
Thought the talking heads stated the reason the olympic commitee gave, it was pretty eloquently stated that the olympics is not about popularity or the sites and resturants of the hosts, it is about the recognition of the diversified backgrounds of the people and cultures that make up the fine athletes that participate- translated that means Obama and his fanfare came acrossed as an insult to by trying to play the face game. I applaud the olympic committee for having what it takes to tell Obama to take a hike, thats what he gets! Obama thinks his personality and smile is enough to change the world into his vision and guess what- the world isn't seeing it that way
