Cash for Clunkers, UK Version

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/6240827/Mandelson-to-extend-vehicle-scrappage-scheme.html

The £300m scheme, which started in May, gives consumers £2,000 off a new car in return for trading in one that is at least 10 years old. The scheme was due to last until February or until the £300m government funding that covers 300,000 vehicles ran out. Trade bodies have given warning that the popularity of the scheme meant it could run out as early as next month.

Seems Brits are getting screwed also!!!

£2000 is like $3700 or so just now I think, not looked at the exchange rate in a while. Still, there are less cars in the UK and a lot of people are satisfied with theirs. But I'm saying this, the price of gas/gallon in the UK is completely ridiculous.

Last time I was over there in 2001 Petrol was around $8 a gallon Shocked

What I found interesting though is with the obscene price cab's and drivers were a lot cheaper than here in the U.S., not to mention a shit load better at their job.

Now that same year I was also in Germany and Petrol was something like around a $1 a gallon ... MMMMMM ......

What you guys do when the financial mess is created and left in the lurch by the highest paid guys. This cash for clunkers or for that matter, whatever be the anyother new scheme, the government should control the financial market in more efficient ways to stop burdening the public. If, you get the opportunity under this program, enjoy with your best girlfriend.
