The talking heads are starting to refer to the war as  being the same as vietnam, there are still many of us that remember vietnam or served there, it wasn't good then and it isn't good now. I can't help but feel that part of the reluctance to bring the boys home is because there are no jobs for them anyway and it will make things even worse stateside. Washington needs to get their heads out of their asses, with winter approaching I fail to see how anyone with one ounce of sense can believe it will get better.

I call bullshit on that thought.  You simply use ALL means available to counter the oppositions activity.  Place some real terror in their faces and don't back off.  You will either convert or kill them.

Why the fuck not - its been done in every conflict throughout history?  If you are going to fight a war then fight the fucker.  Screw the collateral damages - the enemy sure as fuck isn't being distracted by them.  If the enemy is hiding among the civiliam pop then that pop needs to clear out or choose a side to be on.  Neutrality is for the Swiss only!

The other alternative is to just get the fuck out and bring our boys and their toys home.  Then let the locals do whatever the fuck they want.  Set a 30 day non-aggression truce and get the hell out - end of story.  If the truce is broken we will then promise to turn the land into a a sea of glass as the last man flies out!

And where exactly do you think a country of hut dwellers should clear out to? What do you think they just get on a bus and go set up households someplace else? Boy that sounds real easy don't it, but that isn't quite the way it works-  

  remember the helicopters in saigon? Just pack it up and let the chips fall where they may. I doubt from a civilian prespective it matters much who the overlords are, either way they are under seige so what difference does it make american or taliban?

You wait and see that not only Afghanistan, tomorrow the friend of America is going to turn hostile. Yesterday, Iraq. Today, Afghanistan and tomorrow, who knows what is on hold. Lets see Obama takes action according to his own words and not keeping it just as simple words.
