Record gun ownership, record low crime

The emotional anti-gun hysterics of the left always absurdly insist that fewer restrictions on law-abiding gun owners will lead to more crime. But those of us who realize that most gun crimes are committed by those with illegally-acquired weapons know this is blatantly erroneous on its face.
In fact, as gun laws have been dramatically loosened across the country and citizens have armed themselves more than ever before, crime has gone down, as the FBI recently confirmed.
From the NRA:
Last week, the FBI issued its preliminary 2009 crime report, showing that the number of murders in the first half of 2009 decreased 10 percent compared to the first half of 2008. If the trend holds for the remainder of 2009, it will be the single greatest one-year decrease in the number of murders since at least 1960...
...For the better part of the last 15 months, firearms, ammunition, and 'large' ammunition magazines have been sold in what appear to be record quantities.

MMMMMM law abiding citizens significantly "up" and crime drastically "down", go figure eh?
