The federal government explicitly stated the reason for this harsh punishment was because of the comedy movie Up In Smoke trivializing the government's anti-drug efforts and because of this, Tommy Chong joked that the only Weapons of Mass Destruction that the Bush Administration has ever found were his bongs.
I agree. Tommy Chong is one of the most peaceful men on earth and doesn't have a bad bone in his body. What the government did to him is eggregious and probably affected him for life. I've seen many pieces on this topic. Incredibly, he's been made an anti-hero over this and now has the government by their balls.

That is truly about the dumbest thing GOVCO ever did - well next to participating in the vilification of cannabis in the first place. Let's just hope they (GOVCO) don't decide to do a re-make of Refer Madness!
